Our Inspiration
Hello, I am Falak, a co-creator of The Climate Displacement Initiative.
From 2022 to 2024, I interned for BizGees, an organization that works with refugees by assisting them in creating their own small-business to build a living, all the while, working towards reducing their carbon-footprint and contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

At BizGees, I co-managed social media posting, website management, and assisted in interviewing the refugees I worked with. My experience served as a large part of our inspiration and our source of primary data and information for this project.
Background
During my time at BizGees, first-hand interviews with refugees was an experience like no other. Many of these individuals were climate migrants from nations like Bangladesh and Somalia, forced to flee their homes as a result of climate disasters. These interviews provided vital information and allowed us to understand the stories behind the faces. They discussed their story, journey, and the challenges they faced.

With the interviewee's permission, we were able to share their story with the world in order to educate individuals and spread awareness.
